GODDAMN GOTHS ON METH Unleash Vart: A Multiverse of Sound and Storytelling

Robert Bryant’s GODDAMN GOTHS ON METH continues to redefine artistic boundaries with their latest release, Vart. This isn’t just an album; it’s a genre-bending, mind-expanding odyssey through experimental noise, darkwave, industrial beats, ambient textures, and electronic chaos. It’s a work that dares to challenge conventions, immersing listeners in a raw, chaotic, and deeply emotive exploration of sound and meaning.

At the heart of Vart is the enigmatic figure of Varsavati, a multifaceted persona whose philosophical narrative anchors the album. Representing themes of duality, observation, and the search for enlightenment, Varsavati is both a muse and a guide. Their presence weaves throughout the album, adding a layer of mystique and intellectual depth to an already complex sonic landscape.

The album’s tracks are not just songs but chapters in a larger story, with Varsavati leading listeners through a labyrinth of emotions, chaos, and beauty. From dissonant noise arrangements to minimalist melodies, every note feels intentional, challenging the listener to find meaning amid the madness.

This innovative approach allowed for a seamless fusion of human creativity and machine unpredictability, reflecting the album’s overarching theme of the multiverse. The result is a collection of tracks that feel both meticulously curated and delightfully chaotic.

Beyond the music, Vart is a meditation on chaos, curation, and the intersection of technology and art. As Bryant reflects, “Chaos is art. Curation is the multiverse’s way of asking, ‘What if?’” This philosophy is embedded in every aspect of the album, from its AI-driven collaborations to its existential themes.

In a world where music often feels formulaic, Vart is a bold statement of artistic freedom. Its fearless fusion of genres, thought-provoking narrative, and innovative production techniques make it a standout release that demands attention. For curators, writers, and listeners seeking something truly unique, Vart is more than an album—it’s an experience, a challenge, and a reminder of the boundless possibilities of music.

With Vart, GODDAMN GOTHS ON METH have once again proven that chaos, when curated with care, can become a masterpiece.

Dunebug’s Journey: “Terracotta” – A Milestone in Alt-Rock Excellence

Dunebug, a five-piece alt-rock sensation from the UK, has unleashed their latest track, “Terracotta,” a release that marks a pivotal moment in their musical journey. Self-written, recorded, and mixed entirely by the band, this track not only embodies their artistic evolution but also sets a promising tone for their future.

“Terracotta” is a labor of love and teamwork, with each member contributing to the track’s unique sound. The band’s lead singer took the helm in mixing and producing, ensuring their collective vision came to life. In true Dunebug fashion, every instrument’s part was crafted by the person playing it, creating a tapestry of sound that is authentically theirs.

The inspiration for this release came from their admiration of The Smashing Pumpkins, a band known for its evocative lyrics and textured guitar tones. Dunebug channeled this influence into “Terracotta,” blending insightful storytelling with a sonic depth that resonates with listeners.

At its heart, “Terracotta” explores the bittersweet narrative of a relationship marked by longing and unspoken desires. Lyrics like “Kiss the frost from your lips” encapsulate the yearning to mend emotional distance and find warmth in connection. After two prior releases—an EP and a single—Dunebug has honed their recording and mixing techniques, culminating in a track that lives up to the sonic identity they envisioned when they first formed. Recorded entirely at their lead singer’s home with personal equipment, “Terracotta” stands as a testament to their indie ethos and determination.

As Dunebug continues to carve out their place in the alt-rock scene, “Terracotta” stands as a milestone—a declaration of their potential and a promise of what’s to come. For fans old and new, this track is not just music; it’s a glimpse into the heart and soul of a band destined for greatness.

The Afro Nick Hits the Mark with “Get There Before Noon” (LA Mix)

Nick Anastasakis, better known as The Afro Nick, is redefining indie rock with his latest single, “Get There Before Noon” (LA Mix). With its blend of indie, alternative, and psychedelic rock, the track encapsulates a deep message of living in the moment and seizing life’s opportunities while they last. This soul-stirring anthem comes as a product of creativity that spans continents, featuring Grammy-winning synth player Leonardo Genovese and backed by a robust digital and PR campaign to captivate new audiences.

Born and raised on the Greek island of Crete, Nick’s musical roots run deep. He credits his earliest inspiration to the local Romani people, who performed spirited guitar melodies on the cobblestone streets of his hometown. These formative experiences laid the groundwork for a career characterized by authenticity and emotional resonance. Before venturing into international waters, Nick toured Crete with his first band, Stray Blue, pioneering the indie rock scene on an island not typically known for such acts.

Relocating to New York and later to Los Angeles, Nick’s journey continued as he embraced his moniker, The Afro Nick—a nod to his iconic wild hair and the freedom it represents. “My music is for those who don’t fit into the normal flow of society,” he says, “a symbol of uninhibited freedom.”

Originally recorded in New York City, “Get There Before Noon” was reimagined and finalized in Nick’s LA studio, blending the urban vibrance of New York with the laid-back creativity of California. The track’s inception is as raw and real as its message. “After a late and long hangout at my apartment in NYC, I woke up with a hangover but had to get to a recording session before noon,” Nick recalls. From this relatable experience came lyrics that resonate deeply, such as “And on one day, you gonna miss that day” and “I got to live this life, not yesterday.”

The song’s production shines with thick guitar riffs, emotive electronic melodies, and Nick’s signature raspy vocals, all culminating in a powerful closing line: “All you have to do is get there before noon.” It’s a simple yet profound reminder to seize the day and live life to its fullest.

Joining Nick on this project are two stellar musicians: George Athanas, a Greek-based bass player and longtime collaborator from Stray Blue, and Leonardo Genovese, a Grammy-winning synth player. Genovese, known for his work in world-class venues, first connected with Nick in New York, performing in local clubs before collaborating on recording sessions in LA. Their synergy is evident in the layered complexity of “Get There Before Noon,” a testament to their shared vision.

As The Afro Nick’s latest single garners attention, fans can anticipate more releases in the coming months, culminating in a small tour planned for 2025. With “Get There Before Noon,” Nick offers a powerful blend of reflective storytelling and musical innovation that captures the essence of his artistry. His journey from Crete’s streets to global recognition is a narrative of passion, resilience, and boundless creativity. Stream “Get There Before Noon” (LA Mix) on all major platforms now, and stay tuned for more from The Afro Nick as he continues to inspire listeners worldwide.

The Rise of MaKeyla: “Gråta in the Rain” and a Journey Beyond Boundaries

On Friday, December 6, MaKeyla delivered a refreshing addition to the music scene with her new single, "Gråta in the Rain." This Swedish gem blends modern afrobeat and amapiano influences, creating a soundscape reminiscent of global sensations like Tems and Tyla, but with a distinctively Swedish twist. MaKeyla's exceptional vocal technique and songwriting prowess shine through in this track, which she crafted entirely herself. The lyrics, underscored by a message of liberation, boldly proclaim: “I have never done anything better than to leave you.”

The addictive rhythm and escalating flow of "Gråta in the Rain" make it perfect for intimate headphone listening and commanding the dance floor alike. With this release, MaKeyla reaffirms her place as a trailblazer, carving a unique path through the music industry.

Born in Stockholm and raised in the small town of Lund, MaKeyla’s musical journey began as an escape from a challenging childhood marked by bullying. Music became her sanctuary, and by the age of ten, she was already writing songs. By sixteen, she had collaborated with various songwriters and producers, and her single "Give Up On You" was added to the P3 playlist. Her undeniable talent earned her an anniversary ticket to Idol in 2014, handpicked by jury member Kishti Tomita. Yet, the Swedish industry’s insistence that she conform to mainstream house and pop genres left MaKeyla feeling constrained.

Instead of compromising her artistic vision, MaKeyla set her sights on the global stage. At just 21, she boarded a flight to Toronto after being contacted by Snaz, one of Drake’s early producers. The result was "Nemesis," a single that gained airplay on American stations like Hot 98 and 96 Kix. The success opened doors to Los Angeles, where MaKeyla immersed herself in hip-hop culture, learning to freestyle and write bars under the mentorship of rapper Juice. Her persistence and adaptability earned her a place in the competitive American battle scene, further honing her craft.

MaKeyla’s music defies categorization, weaving together influences from pop, reggae, 90s RnB, Afrobeats, and hip-hop. Her lyrics, often laced with sharp punchlines, reflect the resilience and determination that have defined her journey. “You do not have to have the best conditions to succeed. You just have to be incredibly determined, stubborn, and believe in yourself,” she says.

Back in Stockholm, MaKeyla continues to push boundaries with an ambitious new project. Collaborating with renowned producer Keyz from Regal Republic, she has assembled a team of seasoned songwriters, including Grammy-nominated Soli Ridge, actor and RnB artist Chaz Marcus Fleming, and David Wade, who has worked with stars like Nipsey Hussle and Ariana Grande. Together, they are crafting a sound that promises to resonate on a global scale.

From a bullied child to an international artist, MaKeyla’s journey is a testament to resilience and self-belief. Through songs like "Pop It" and "3 Dimensional," she channels her experiences into music that empowers and inspires. Now, with "Gråta in the Rain," MaKeyla invites listeners to join her in celebrating freedom and individuality. As she continues to break norms and explore new horizons, MaKeyla’s story serves as a beacon for aspiring artists worldwide, proving that dreams can be realized with unwavering determination.

Dan Becker’s “Pushing Buttons”: A Captivating Evolution of Solo Piano

On December 6, 2024, solo pianist Dan Becker unveiled Pushing Buttons, his third album—a stunning showcase of his talent and artistic evolution. Known for his ability to cross the boundaries of neo-classical, contemporary, and experimental music, Becker delivers a dynamic and thought-provoking journey that resonates with listeners.

This release stands as a testament to Becker’s musical ingenuity. With its unique blend of energy and introspection, Pushing Buttons captures the essence of his creative vision. The EP includes the first three tracks from a 12-track collection, now available digitally and in full on his official website.

The album's structure is deliberate and intriguing, transitioning from high-energy, almost manic compositions to deeply introspective and intimate melodies. This progression mirrors an emotional arc, keeping listeners engaged from start to finish.

Standout tracks include "Talk Back," which showcases a playful yet intricate exchange of musical ideas, and "Preparing," a deeply personal and intimate composition set for digital release next year. These tracks exemplify Becker’s ability to balance technical prowess with heartfelt expression, making his work both accessible and profound.

Recorded in a small studio in Gill, Massachusetts, Pushing Buttons captures the raw and authentic essence of Becker’s artistry. His meticulous approach to recording and composing ensures every note contributes to the album's overall impact.

“This album starts out very energetic, almost manic, then slows down as the album progresses. ‘Talk Back’ is one of my favorite tracks because it combines two ideas sort of talking back to each other, thus the name. Another favorite, ‘Preparing,’ is incredibly intimate and showcases the softer side of my musical spectrum.”

Pushing Buttons is more than an album; it’s an invitation into Becker’s world. His ability to evoke emotion through solo piano is a rare gift, and this album solidifies his place as a standout figure in contemporary music.
