Rebellion to attract attention and rebellion to stay alive are two different things. OpCritical’s new single, “Doing Fine”, falls firmly into the category of survival.

The track was released on May 15th, 2026 and is the fourth track released by the band this year. The latest single has the raw punk and grunge sound while addressing the topic of the need to conform to the group and the tremendous pressure that is placed on individuals to fit in. The pressures of conforming to a society where we use algorithms to promote sameness in the way we communicate and businesses expect employees to conform with the company line and public opinion change at the speed of light tend to promote an environment of uniformity, and “Doing Fine” serves as a reminder that you can still be an individual.
OpCritical makes no attempt to hide the message in the track with abstract symbolism. They create a direct assault on the many systems that have placed people under considerable pressure to become the same; pressure from politics, religion, schools, family, etc. The message is that independent thinkers are not broken, confused or lost; they are just “Doing Fine.”
The record is filled with conviction, and the guitars are reminiscent of the alternative movements that challenged mainstream culture, while the lyrics serve as a declaration of personal independence. The repeated phrase "I won't fit into your box, leave me alone" is less a chorus and more a manifesto.
Doing Fine is especially intriguing given the current state of affairs in our society, which regularly equates conformity with belonging; thus, many people feel compelled to choose sides, identify with labels or assume identities assigned to them prior to birth. OpCritical is opposed to this notion, arguing that real happiness comes from expressing oneself rather than seeking validation from society.
The accompanying music video reinforces this message; through a number of rebellious and non-conventional acts, the band rejects society's idea that one's life should adhere to an established template. The visual representation of the song reinforces the band's main point: individuality is not a problem requiring a solution.
For a group formed in 2026 in response to what they view as growing dangers facing America, Doing Fine serves as both a mission statement and a warning. OpCritical isn't interested in passive observation. Their music is designed to challenge, provoke discussion, and encourage listeners to question systems that discourage independent thought.
Whether audiences agree with every aspect of the band's worldview or not, one thing is undeniable: Doing Fine refuses to play it safe. It embraces the uncomfortable space where art, identity, and social criticism collide. In a landscape increasingly dominated by predictability, that alone makes the song worth paying attention to.
Sometimes the most radical statement is surprisingly simple: be yourself, even when the world would prefer something easier to manage.
